Job Description
The Welder welds metal parts together, using electric arc welding equipment, as specified by blueprints, welding procedures or oral instructions.

Desired Knowledge and/or Skills
Welding Certification. 3 years previous construction welding experience preferred.

Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Supervised By
Project assigned supervisor. 

Essential Job Functions
Obtains specified electrode. Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified. Based on knowledge of arc welding techniques, welds metal components together. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.

Other Job Functions
May assist other trades as directed by superintendent.

Physical Demands
Constantly – Activity exists 2/3 or more of the time:

•Reaching •Fingering •Climbing
•Handling •Balancing •Ability to judge distances
•Clarity of vision at 20” or less •Ability to distinguish colors
•Ability to focus in on an object

Occasionally – Activity exists up to 1/3 of the time:
•Stooping •Kneeling •Crouching.
•Feeling •Bending •Twisting

Strength – Ability to exert and lift:
50 – 100 lbs of force occasionally
25 – 50 lbs of force frequently
10 - 20 lbs of force constantly

Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to weather, dust and fumes. Occasionally working in high or exposed places. Working in a LOUD noise intensity level.
